We purchased a 4-light set which came with this transformer bundled in and at the beginning of the second season the timer had already stopped working (we had unplugged it for the winter). We could switch the lights off and on manually for a couple of months and then the transformer began overheating and would trip itself off (thermal switch still worked!) These units had 5-year warranties but it appears that Intermatic changed it to 1-year recently. So I thought I had plenty of time to locate the receipt but by the time I did the warranty had already expired. I think these units have a design defect or are being made cheaply and not as durable as the previous models.

It seems that the timer quits working or it gets a short inside after a 3 or 4 year period. The product is excellent, but work needs to be done on making them last longer. I realize it runs 24/7, but I have other things that run 24/7 also and they don't die in 3 or 4 years. It is not overloaded, but indeed under the rated capacity. This is the 4th power pack I’ve had to order. It seems that the timer quits working or it gets a short inside after a 3 or 4 year period. The product is excellent, but work needs to be done on making them last longer. I realize it runs 24/7, but I have other things that run 24/7 also and they don’t die in 3 or 4 years. It is not overloaded, but indeed under the rated capacity. Hope Intermatic gets this and works on improving their already good product.

Except that I've tried it about 10 times on two different brands of Presta tubes and have never gotten a reading (although sometimes I do get the 2.0 PSI rating). I suspect that it is not compatible with all brands of Presta tubes, although it certainly should be! I gave it 2 stars instead of one because Slime's customer service department was VERY helpful. They offered to exchange/refund the gauge if Amazon wouldn't. I got a replacement from Amazon with the exact same issue...I am contacting an online bicycle parts store and they said it is a new item and are offering to take one off the shelf, try it out and tell me what they find. I have had a similar experience to the reviewer who says it works one 1 out of 5 times. Except that I’ve tried it about 10 times on two different brands of Presta tubes and have never gotten a reading (although sometimes I do get the 2.0 PSI rating). I suspect that it is not compatible with all brands of Presta tubes, although it certainly should be! I gave it 2 stars instead of one because Slime’s customer service department was VERY helpful. They offered to exchange/refund the gauge if Amazon wouldn’t. I got a replacement from Amazon with the exact same issue…I am contacting an online bicycle parts store and they said it is a new item and are offering to take one off the shelf, try it out and tell me what they find. If anything useful surfaces I will report it here.

this thing works about every 5th time (which is how i know that i’m not just using things incorrectly). the other 4 times it seems to just not push the stem down no matter how hard i press it on the valve, or how i play around with the locknut. so it just reads 0 or some very low (e.g., 2psi) pressure.

Aside from the atrocious smell of this thing, it is pretty good. This made me realize how out of shape I really am. The crunches are SO much more intense with this than without.

It took about one month for the vinyl-chemical smell of this to subside. Another issue I found, is that it tends to lose air slowly, so each time I use it I must re-inflate it a bit. Perhaps that is normal, I don’t know….I never had one before.

No brainer upgrade for any Alpine head unit, January 26, 2010

Added this to a CDE-102 in an ’08 Altima Sedan. Still running stock speakers.
